A Versatile Rod for Medium Surf Species.
Posted by Bill on Jan 23rd 2021
This is a well made rod that is more like a big carp rod than a surf rod. You may think the stripping guide is a bit close to the reel but coarse angling rods (carp rods) are often like that.
This is a big rod, quite heavy, 460gms weight, but with a selection of tips which allows for a variety of situations. You could catch medium size gummies through to whiting with care and attention but you could probably pole (tuna fishing) the whiting straight out of the water, but one tip is light enough to detect bites. I'll be using an ABU 60 size reel with it. Seems quite a good match.
A rod worth having if you understand about carp/coarse angling rods. The weight of the rod was a bit of a surprise but as a surf rod it's not too bad. I think it will be a good rod to use.
